A Picture is Worth a Thousand Words

La Leche League South Africa (https://www.lllsa.org/) ran a photo competition for one of its activities during World Breastfeeding Month (August 2021). The theme was A Picture is Worth a Thousand Words with the aim to create awareness that breastfeeding can take place anytime and anywhere. We are delighted to share some of the entries we received which capture what LLL means to us:

La Leche League South Africa’s Photo Competition

“A Picture is Worth a Thousand Words”

La Leche League South Africa ran a photo competition as one of its activities during World Breastfeeding Month.

The aim was to create awareness that breastfeeding can take place anytime, anywhere; as well as building a library of images that can be used in future educational materials.

“Some mothers say they don’t want to breastfeed because they don’t want to be tied down, but most breastfeeding mothers will tell you that breastfeeding actually frees them up! No cans of formula or bottles, no washing, sterilizing, or storing. No measuring, spilling, or heating. No planning, left-overs, or spoilage. Most likely a lot fewer trips to the doctor. Your milk is always available, always the right temperature, and never spoiled, no matter how hot or cold it is outside.” (The Womanly Art of Breastfeeding, 8th edition, pg 13)
