European Area Network

The European Area Network (EAN) includes 15 in-country Areas across mainly-western Europe including one Future Area which covers several countries from Portugal in the west to Russia in the east and Turkey in the south. LLL Meetings and breastfeeding support are offered in more than 25 languages.

Because almost every Area speaks a different language, most projects are internal – each having, for example, its own publications (original or in translation) for mothers, parents, families, Leaders, Applicants and, in some cases, healthcare providers.

The European Council, which includes EAN and LLLGB, brings together all member entities for interests and projects that we have in common, and European Staff provide a support network.

LLL Great Britain

La Leche League Great Britain (LLL GB) provides mother-to-mother, parent-to-parent breastfeeding support across Great Britain and the Isle of Man. We believe that mothering through breastfeeding is the most natural and effective way of understanding and satisfying the needs of your baby.

Our trained breastfeeding counsellors are all volunteers who have nursed their own babies, completed breastfeeding support training, and are accredited as LLL Leaders. Our volunteers provide a wide range of support options including phone, text, chat, email, helpforms, and social media. Leaders also run breastfeeding support meetings which offer a safe space to talk about breastfeeding and chestfeeding in a group or one-to-one, hear how others have overcome their own challenges, meet other nursing parents, and make friends.

We support parents to provide human milk for their babies, however that looks for families. We are committed to serving everyone – mothers, parents, families – regardless of race, ethnicity, religion, sex, national origin, ancestry, age, marital status, physical or mental ability, socio-economic status, political views, gender identity, sexual orientation, family structure, cultural values and beliefs.

In 2022, our 200+ volunteer Leaders:

  • provided face-to-face support meetings in 120+ locations with a total attendance at meetings of 7,000+
  • supported 1,000+ parents face-to-face or over video call
  • facilitated 40+ Facebook groups providing information & support
  • responded to 8,000+ social media contacts
  • took 2,000+ phone calls
  • answered 1,500+ online helpforms

Our Facebook page has over 28,000 followers, Twitter, 5,500 and Instagram has over 13,000 followers. We are also now on LinkedIn.

Ligue La Leche
